Comcast Launches Xfinity On Campus at York College and Elizabethtown College

YORK, PA – August 30, 2016 – Comcast and York College of Pennsylvania, Elizabethtown College, Juniata College and Lebanon Valley College today announced the launch of Xfinity On Campus at the schools. Xfinity On Campus is a service that allows college students to watch live TV and On Demand content on their IP-enabled devices, such as laptops, tablets and smartphones.  Xfinity On Campus launched at Lebanon Valley College and Carnegie Mellon University earlier this year.

Xfinity On Campus, now available at 60 schools nationwide, offers up to 100 live cable channels including every major broadcast network, as well as channels like AMC, Bravo, Comedy Central, ESPN, FX and MTV. The service, which is included within room and board for students living in on-campus housing, includes access to thousands of current season TV shows and hit movies via Xfinity On Demand.  While off campus, students can use their university credentials to sign in and access online programming that’s part of their subscriptions via TV Everywhere websites and apps such as WatchESPN and FXNOW.

This year, cloud DVR service has been added at no additional cost, allowing students to record up to 20 hours of shows like The Walking Dead, 30 for 30, Scandal, Inside Amy Schumer and more.

“Xfinity On Campus lets students watch TV on their own terms,” said Alan Clairmont, vice president of sales and marketing for Comcast’s Keystone Region. “This younger generation is viewing more and more programming away from the traditional TV set, and we have evolved our products and services to better accommodate them. Whether it’s the local news, Scandal or The Daily Show, Xfinity On Campus offers the content they want – anytime and on any device.”

Xfinity On Campus students can also upgrade to a selection of premium channels at additional cost, including HBO, Showtime, STARZ and the Sports Entertainment Package, which includes popular channels like ESPN Goal Line.

“We are glad to offer this benefit to our students,” said York College’s Chief Information Officer Ilya Yakovlev.  “It will help them access the programming on a variety of devices wherever they are.”

“Choices are important to college students, in the classroom and outside the classroom. Xfinity On Campus offers our students variety and flexibility,” said Elizabeth Braungard, Executive Director, Office of Marketing and Communications at Elizabethtown College.

Powered by Comcast’s cloud-based X1 Entertainment Operating System, Xfinity On Campus provides an opportunity to introduce a younger generation to the company’s next-generation

video product.  X1 delivers an immersive and personalized entertainment experience across all devices in an interface that is sleek, intuitive and makes search and discovery of content easier than ever.

How it works:

Xfinity On Campus is included in students’ on‐campus TV service, excluding premium channels. Students are asked to visit https://tv.xfinity.com, type in their school name, authenticate with their student user name and password, and then click the “Start Watching” button.  Once authenticated, students can watch anytime by simply visiting https://tv.xfinity.com and clicking on the “Start Watching” button or by downloading the Xfinity On Campus app.  While off-campus, students can use their university email credentials to authenticate and access programming via third-party TV Everywhere sites and apps.
