2017 Holiday Season Kicks Off With Comcast Light Up Night

In Pittsburgh, the official kick-off to the holiday season was Comcast Light Up Night on November 17 and we’re proud to have partnered with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership for a second year to bring the celebration to the region.

More than 150 Comcasters helped make it happen by staffing the Xfinity Xperience area, distributing 15,000 Santa hats, projecting social media posts onto four jumbotrons staged throughout the city, hosting the VIP Blast Party at US Steel Tower and helping to promote acts performing on the Comcast Main Stage.

Visitors snapped holiday photos in our winter sleigh and drank 5,000 cups of hot cocoa on the Andy Warhol Bridge while they visited our X1 interactive displays, Xfinity Mobile charging stations, Xfinity Mobile kiosks and the Gear VR virtual reality display.  Guests selected one of seven different VR experiences that included skiing and helicoptering in the Swiss Alps.

If you missed Comcast Light Up Night, there are still plenty of options on the Xfinity X1 platform to get you in the holiday spirit.  Santa Tracker can be found within the Holiday Moviethon and Kids Holiday collections on X1 as well as the apps menu, and Santa Tracker’s interactive features include on-screen games, read- and sing-alongs, movie trailers, radio, daily challenges, a countdown until Santa’s departure and more.

Original holiday movies during the Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas are just some of the content our channel partners feature this month and the X1 Kids Zone helps children safely and easily navigate age-appropriate content.

The X1 Voice Remote makes it easy to enjoy classic holiday music and a roaring fire, even without a fireplace by simply saying “Yule Log” and can even help you with your holiday baking by asking the age-old question “How many cups are in a quart?” And the recent integration of iHeartRadio into the X1 platform makes it easy to listen to more than 1,000 local radio stations while you bake, including Pittsburgh-based 3WS 94.5, KISS 96.1, WDVE 102.5, The X 105.9, Big 104.7 and ESPN 970 AM.

Comcast wishes everyone a happy and safe holiday season and an entertaining 2018!
