Comcast is excited that we are once again a corporate sponsor of the Pittsburgh Pride Parade on June 11, 2017 as well as several other parades across the country. In southwestern PA, we have been raising awareness of Pittsburgh’s Pride Festival through public service announcements and social media. And of course, we will be at the Rally and March again. We hope to double our participation this year with more than 100 employees and their friends, allies and family members.
Our investment in Pride includes producing and running the Pride tv PSA and is part of a larger and long-standing mission to support and advance diversity and inclusion in our communities and at work. For example, in 1986, a group of employees launched OUT@Comcast, for LGBTQ employees and allies. OUT@Comcast was one of the company’s first Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and its members have been crucial in helping to develop corporate policy and Xfinity programming for our customers. And this summer, our regional employees will be launching their own local chapter of OUT@Comcast. To show my support, I will not only be participating in Pittsburgh Pride, I will be joining OUT@Comcast in Keystone.
I am proud that Comcast NBCUniversal is committed to an inclusive workplace. For the fourth consecutive year, Comcast earned a 100 percent score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and was also named a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality. Comcast earned these honors through our demonstrated committed to diversity and inclusion – through policies, practices and activities like those sponsored by our ERGs. We also show it by building a culture where everyone feels valued, supported and respected. This is one way we are growing our reputation as an employer of choice among the LGBTQ community.
We also provide the very best in LGBTQ entertainment, news and information, helping us grow our reputation as a provider choice among the LGBTQ community. The Xfinity LGBTQ Film & TV Collection is a community-driven library of over 800+ titles featuring LGBTQ characters and storylines, with new content incorporated weekly. We are proud the collection provides a home for some of the community’s most important and unique stories. Xfinity’s LGBTQ Film and TV Collection includes PFLAG’s Community Recommendations and can be accessed on X1 by navigating to “Popular Destinations” > LGBTQ Film & TV or by simply saying “LGBTQ” into the X1 Voice Remote.
I hope you can join us and the many partner organizations supporting Pride on June 11. Follow us on Twitter at @ComcastWestrnPA and OUT@Comcast and tweet using hashtag #XfinityLGBTQ.
