Comcast Collects Supplies For Separated Children Being Cared for in Pittsburgh

Last year, Comcasters responded overwhelmingly to a supply drive that their Unidos Employee Resource Group hosted to serve families in Puerto Rico impacted by Hurricane Maria.  Learn more here about how those supplies were distributed by volunteers affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Last month, children who were recently separated from their families by Customs and Border Patrol, were placed at Holy Family Institute in Emsworth, Pennsylvania. Unidos hosted a supply drive at two Pittsburgh-area locations for employees to donate toys, gift cards, suitcases and art supplies for the children, who range in age from 4 to 14.

“Our hope is that these supplies can help the children to feel welcomed and comforted during their time in Pittsburgh,” said Maria Medina, Lead for Unidos in the Keystone Region.  “Our employees responded quickly and enthusiastically when they learned about the children being cared for in Pittsburgh.”
