Susan Kelechi Watson from NBC’s “This is Us” shared a special message to Pittsburgh about this Friday’s Comcast Light Up Night.

Pittsburgh – November 1, 2018 – The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and our many partners announced plans for Comcast Light Up Night® that include live music, attractions and celebrations for the official Holiday Season kick off in Downtown Pittsburgh. Scheduled for Friday, November 16, 2018 the festivities spotlight the City’s unique combination of traditional and contemporary holiday attractions, complemented by free musical performances on five stages and free activities all around Downtown. Downtown Pittsburgh is expected to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors on Comcast Light Up Night®, kicking off a season of events expected to generate an estimated $21 million in economic impact.

New for 2018, Comcast Light Up Night® has extended its hours to allow for more live music performances both starting earlier in the evening and going later, a special laser show as part of the Highmark Tree Lighting, and a later fireworks show, occurring at 10:00 p.m.

“We’re proud to have Pittsburgh’s beloved holiday tradition now a Comcast tradition” said Christine Whitaker, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Keystone Region. “Comcast Light Up Night® is an opportunity for us to tell the Pittsburgh region ‘Xfinity thanks you’ by bringing our community music and holiday fun.”

“This year, more than ever, we are looking forward to Light Up Night, the one celebration that brings together people from every community, every neighborhood, every age, religion, race and demographic of every sort to Downtown Pittsburgh, the one neighborhood we all share no matter where we live.” said Jeremy Waldrup, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. “ More than just music, more than just food, and even more than just fireworks, it’s the evening that we as a community come together with family and friends, old and new, to celebrate a time of giving and reflection, to be thankful for our blessings, and anticipate the start of a new year.”

The Comcast Main Stage, at Ft. Duquesne Boulevard and Ninth Street, will be headlined by Grammy-Winning national recording artists A Great Big World, known for their chart topping single “Say Something.”

In addition, Comcast will offer free interactive attractions and entertainment as part of the evening’s festivities:

  • Xfinity will say “Thank You” to their legions of customers at the Xfinity Experience on The Andy Warhol Bridge at Ft. Duquesne Boulevard. There, visitors can try a virtual reality experience, warm up with a free cup of cocoa, and use a winter sleigh backdrop to make their own electronic holiday cards.
  • At various locations Downtown, Comcast’s Street Team will have special giveaways including fun holiday gifts (while supplies last).
  • The Street Team will also capture images of the crowd enjoying the festivities that will be shared via social media and displayed on video screens in multiple locations. People can submit their own pictures or messages by posting images with the hashtag #LUN2018.
