On April 17, Comcast hosted three meals at different locations during Leadership Pittsburgh’s Big Table Pittsburgh. The event was designed for groups and individuals to connect with each other “to deepen their understanding of shared values as a community of caring residents, businesses and organizations.”

Comcast’s Big Table hosts planned events that brought together people who don’t normally interact. Bill, one of the event hosts, observed, “Once everyone got more comfortable with each other, we had some tremendously in-depth conversation about things like workplace culture, career opportunities, oppression and housing.”

The Big Table lunch that Comcast’s Unidos Employee Resource Group hosted included Unidos leadership as Latino-serving organizations in Pittsburgh.  Guests from Casa San Jose, the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Holy Family Institute all offered their perspectives about the challenges their clients face, how companies like Comcast can help and ways we can work better together.

Brandi, who hosted a dinner at Comcast’s Summit Park Drive location in North Fayette, would like to see employees plan similar events on a more regular basis. “The conversations we have can help change how we perceive other people,” she said. “I think it only takes one person to make a change in the world.”
