Employee Profile: James O’Mahony

Headshot of Employee, James O'Mahony

When James O’Mahony started in the cable industry 22 years ago, he was a field technician working on an analog system. Over the years, he’s worked for a number of different telecommunication providers, eventually transitioning to Comcast’s all-digital system. Throughout his career, the one constant has been O’Mahony’s commitment to delivering the best experience possible for customers, a focus that was recognized recently when he was presented one of Comcast’s Keystone Region Loud & Proud awards for his commitment to delivering a great customer experience by supporting his coworkers.

His work as a tech logistic center router in Work Force Operations is focused on ensuring the highest levels of on-time arrivals when a customer schedules a technician. His team uses an automated process and human trouble-shooting to meet or exceed customers’ expectations. “The daily challenges that arise in my position keeps every day at work interesting. Interacting with people and overcoming obstacles to make the customer experience our best product drives me to do my best every day.”

With a son in high school, O’Mahony appreciates being able to use Comcast’s tuition reimbursement program for his own education. The program has allowed him to earn an associate’s degree in computer networking, and O’Mahony is currently working on a bachelor’s degree from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.

O’Mahony’s favorite Xfinity product? Xfinity high-speed internet. “It allows my family to stream videos, connect with friends and family around the world, and access information quickly.” Having lived in Ireland, England and France, Xfinity Internet’s reliability allows him to place video calls around the world or to talk, text or use data from Xfinity Mobile devices.

What’s something he wishes people outside of Comcast knew about working at Comcast?

“Many people see us as a large company, with mainly the frontline technicians as their point of contact. In the background, there are thousands of diverse people working diligently to ensure network reliability, answer questions, and to resolve issues, in an attempt to ensure quality service.”
