Since the launch of our Comcast RISE program, the multi-year, multi-faceted initiative that supports small businesses owned by people of color with the resources and tools they need today and in the future, we have announced four rounds of recipients across the country. This includes twenty-three businesses in Harrisburg, Lancaster, Reading, McKees Rocks, New Castle and Pittsburgh, like Shirlair’s Boutique in Reading and  Pittsburgh Native Cuts and Styles.

“Comcast Business offered something nobody else offered before: help,” said Ronald Hankins, Owner of Pittsburgh Native Cuts and Styles, a popular local barbershop. “The Comcast RISE program’s technology makeover is helping us provide a better experience for our customers by providing in-store WiFi, improved internet connectivity to the shop and better security for our business.”

The Comcast RISE program is continuing to accept applications for Comcast RISE marketing and technology services at www.ComcastRISE.com, with the next wave closing on October 17, 2021. Comcast recently announced its fourth round of Comcast RISE recipients, which includes 1,100 small businesses owned by people of color nationwide. To date, nearly 4,700 Comcast RISE awardees have been announced nationwide and the program will have supported 13,000 small businesses by the end of 2022.

“While we know that no single organization can solve historic and systemic inequities overnight, we are committed to taking tangible actions that can drive long-term impact and change,” said Aaron Mimran, Vice President of Comcast Business for Comcast’s Keystone Region.  “Comcast RISE offers the opportunity for small businesses owned by people of color to help grow their businesses, create jobs, and play a vital role in supporting our communities. This new round of Comcast RISE awardees will provide more entrepreneurs of color with the resources and tools they need to scale their businesses and thrive for years to come.”
