Leighton, Director of Community Account Sales for Comcast’s Keystone Region, and a native of Beaver, PA, just west of Pittsburgh, leads a team of Xfinity sales professionals dedicated to making sure customers’ connectivity and entertainment needs are met through our full suite of Xfinity products. With students across the region back to school, fall is a particularly exciting time for Leighton and his team.
Throughout his 25 years with Comcast, Leighton’s passion for connecting students, families, and other customers to the fastest, most reliable network in the nation has only grown. We sat down with him to discuss his team’s work in our local communities at the start of the school year and all year long.
It’s fall and kids are heading back to school. Tell us about how your team supports college students as they return to campus.
As a parent who’s gone through college move-ins, I know how hectic this time of year can be. My team’s top priority is connecting students seamlessly and securely. In addition to our teams being available in-store and online, we’re also visiting many campuses this fall to help students get set up. And, for college students living off campus, we’re offering special deals on Xfinity Internet – plus we have other affordable options like NOW Internet and NOW Mobile.
As you and your team are working with families and students during this time of year, what common themes come up regarding staying connected?
Students need a reliable connection to succeed in school – from doing homework assignments and accessing school portals to communicating with professors and even attending online classes in some cases. Reliability is key. What’s more, for many of these college students, this is the first time they’ve been far from home for an extended period. Keeping these students connected with their families is really important.
Your team also helps local families with school-aged children get connected to the Xfinity network. What advantages do Xfinity products bring to families as they head into a new school year?
Similarly to how we work with college students, we are working with families to determine the products that best fit their needs. This includes products like Xfinity Mobile, which gives access to millions of hotspots throughout Comcast’s service area and provides families with the best prices on unlimited 5G data on the market today.
How do you use Xfinity products and services to keep your family connected?
Especially during the busy school year, my family and I savor the moments of unwinding and watching TV together. The Xfinity Voice Remote is a big hit with both my kids and grandkids. It’s fun for them, and helpful for me because I have no idea what channel some of my grandkids’ favorite shows are on!
Comcast is committed to bridging the digital divide and helping all children have access to high-speed internet. How do you see Comcast delivering on that commitment locally?
I’m proud to work for a company that is passionate about digital equity. Through programs like Internet Essentials, we’re providing connectivity and digital education to those who need it most, which can be life-changing.
In my free time, I’ve mentored local youth, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the difference Internet access makes. Connectivity gives these kids access to opportunities that would otherwise be challenging to pursue.
Fall is also prime time for game day grilling. This or that: burgers or ribs?
I love to grill a lot of different foods, but I’d have to go with ribs. There’s a real art to grilling ribs, and I like to consider myself an artist on the grill.
