Our People: Meet Larry Clark, Comcast Customer Solutions Engineer

Whether it’s supporting Comcast Business customers or drumming with a blues or rock ‘n’ roll band, Larry Clark makes sure his team never misses a beat.

After a long career with a local communications provider, Larry ran his own distribution and installation business for several years until it was hit hard by a catastrophic flood.  “Had we had Comcast’s VoiceEdge™, we’d still be in business,” he says of this period, when he and other local businesses lost internet and voice connectivity from another provider for more than three weeks.

When he joined Comcast four years ago as a Customer Solutions Engineer, Larry’s new focus became supporting a sales team who provides communication solutions for business customers throughout western Pennsylvania and surrounding areas in Ohio and West Virginia.  The products he supports include Comcast’s business Ethernet data products, its traditional trunking and VoiceEdge remote phone access products, a variety of business WiFi products and SmartOffice video monitoring.  “Growing up here, my parents taught me how important it is to do your best work and at Comcast, I get to do that every day.”

Outside of work, he has played drums on the worship team for several churches, served on the board of a local homeless shelter, helped build four different Habitat for Humanity homes and loves spending time with his wife and teen daughter.  Sometimes, his volunteer and work life come together.  When the Veteran’s Place, one of Larry’s Comcast Business customers and a Comcast Cares Day non-profit partner, needed assistance with video services, Larry responded immediately.  “It was gratifying to be able to meet the men living at the Veteran’s Place, who use our services every day,” he said.

He may not be playing the drums as much as he did when he was younger and gigged with bands from West Virginia to Canada, but his work today ensures that local business customers can rely on a steady rhythm of reliable internet, customizable voice solutions and video options that meet the needs of businesses that range from small businesses to hospitals to sports bars.

Having a superior portfolio of products, work flexibility and great co-workers are some of things Larry likes about Comcast’s culture.  “My input here is valued,” he said.  “And when I can help solve problems for businesses who I patronize as a customer?  It’s so gratifying.”
