The Keystone Region is stocking up on milk and bread before this weekend’s storm, which is expected to drop significant snow amounts from Clarion to State College and Lock Haven and across to Williamsport and Scranton, with ice to follow. Comcast has some storm needs already taken care of: free apps and movies.
We’re always monitoring for potential issues and working to prepare our systems and team, especially ahead of severe weather. When freezing rain turns to ice it coats lines, making them heavy and breakable and leading to down drops and outages. We’re positioning equipment and personnel in strategic locations so our field technicians can go out as quickly, safely, and efficiently as possible to bring back affected services. Our trucks are stocked and our technical operations and distribution facilities are ready. Once the storm hits, technicians and engineers actively monitor the impact of the cold and wintry conditions so that we can ensure the best possible network performance and quickly pinpoint any issues.
In the case of power outages, they must be fixed by the utility provider before your Comcast services can come back on, or, if there’s further damage to the Comcast network, before our technicians can safely start recovery in hard-hit areas. We’ll be working hard so that you can stay as entertained and connected as possible, whatever the forecast has in store for us.
Xfinity TV customers can download the Xfinity Stream app before winter weather starts to be able to watch live TV, On Demand content and DVR recordings on a tablet or smartphone if the family is snowed in. Even during a power outage that impacts home WiFi, customers can watch TV Go live content, make purchases, access DVR recordings using cellular data and watch content they previously downloaded to their device from the Xfinity Stream app. Xfinity Internet customers can learn about internet outages in their area with Xfinity’s My Account app and get access to access to millions of Xfinity WiFi hotspots available nationwide with the Xfinity WiFi Hotspots app. Xfinity Voice customers can send and receive texts from their home phone number and listen to voicemail using the Xfinity Connect app.
